Auditor / Quality Assurance Officer

The Shirley® OEKO-TEX® team are recruiting a trainee OEKO-TEX® Quality Assurance Officer to help deliver audits in the UK and occasionally internationally to help meet increased demand.

The role will suit an individual with a good understanding of quality assurance and process manufacturing who wishes to develop a career within third party auditing.

After extensive training and development, you will visit and audit clients across the UK and occasionally internationally to carry out OEKO-TEX® audits.  This will necessitate regular travel, up to three times a week as well as occasional overnight stays.  When not on client site you will be based in the Shirley® HQ to plan, report, develop your knowledge and build relationships with colleagues.  Occasional home working may be introduced at the appropriate time

Reporting to the Auditing Manager the main duties are:

  • Review documents and collect data
  • Inspect the facility
  • Analyse the severity of problems,
  • Evaluate corrective actions
  • Verify and validate information
  • Plan and coordinate the OSV
  • Manage the time
  • Write reports, obligations, and recommendations
  • Research relevant laws
  • Keep informed via the webinars (intranet)
  • Keep up to date with the required OEKO-TEX® Standards and OSV protocols
  • Continuously improve their knowledge
  • Follow up on imposed obligation and filling in the institutes own system

Skills/attributes:

  • Knowledge of textiles and other materials, especially regarding production (e.g., spinning, weaving, knitting, dyeing & finishing) would be advantageous but not essential.
  • IT literacy and use of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) (training will be given if necessary).
  • Team working and a flexible and willing attitude. A logical, enquiring mind will be particularly useful.
  • Some QMS experience.
  • An ability to work with customers at all levels is important.
  • Organisational and time management skills (to plan own work) and a high standard of personal work and attention to detail. He or she will be expected to be methodical in approach to business, including maintenance of records and layout of reports.
  • Ability to work to tight timescales and deadlines
