Not only can you source your next range, you can ensure that your entire supply chain is sustainable and transparent, giving your customers complete trust and confidence in the ranges you develop and grow.

Shirley® is the official member institute of the OEKO-TEX® Association in the UK, Kenya, South Africa and Singapore, ensuring trust and sustainability in textiles and leather. Develop and grow your business sustainably by being OEKO-TEX® certified by Shirley®.

OEKO-TEX® standards enable everyone to make responsible decisions and protect natural resources. Driven by sustainability and a dedication to transparency, our work is grounded in proven science.

Shirley® has been testing textiles for over 100 years and has been a member of OEKO-TEX® for more for than 25 years implementing safe and sustainable certification. The textile industry has a long history of environmental and social challenges, and with the added pressure of consumers becoming increasingly conscious of the impact of their buying habits, this year we are focusing on protecting both human rights and the environment. To do this we are ensuring due diligence measures into companies’ management systems, testing textiles for harmful substances, and implementing environmentally friendly productions processes in the long term to improve health and safety and to promote socially responsible working conditions.

Three of the schemes that will be featured at Source Fashion are STANDARD 100®, MADE IN GREEN® and RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS®.

OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100®, is an independent testing and certification system for textile raw materials, intermediate and end products, from fibres through to finished garments. If a textile article carries the STANDARD 100 label, you can be certain that every component of this article, i.e. every thread, button and other accessories, has been tested for harmful substances.

OEKO-TEX® MADE IN GREEN® is a traceable product label for garments or textile items. A label bearing MADE IN GREEN® proves that the product has been tested for harmful substances and that it has also been manufactured in STeP by OEKO-TEX® certified facilities. The swing tag or garment label bares a QR code which details the entire life cycle of the product; communicating to the customer exactly how and where the textile item has been processed throughout the product’s lifecycle.

OEKO-TEX® RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS® is an independent certification system for brands, brand groups, retailers and traders of the textile and leather industry. RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS® enables a holistic consideration of due diligence measures into companies’ management systems. A certified OEKO-TEX® RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS company looks beyond its own operations and ensures high standards throughout its global supply chain.
