Calibration Officer
Based at our offices in Trafford Park we are recruiting a Calibration Officer.
Main duties:
Calibration of a wide range of laboratory equipment and instrumentation, in accordance with ISO17025 (or other applicable accreditation standards), this may include:
- Timely and accurate calibration of laboratory equipment, in accordance with ISO17025.
- Cooperating with laboratory staff on calibrations where appropriate.
- Maintenance of the calibration records on the internal site equipment database.
- Contribution to the development of a new Group equipment database.
- Calibration, control and allocation of reference standard equipment.
- Compiling, signing, organising and reviewing of calibration certificates, both internal and external.
- Organising, shipping and quote reviewing of all external calibrations.
- Calculation of uncertainty budgets for calibration procedures.
- Involvement in the review and development of calibration procedures for existing and new equipment.
- Providing calibration support to the laboratory managers/staff especially for the commissioning and validation of new equipment and processes.
- Additional duties as required.
- This role is based in Manchester but regular travel to our site in Leeds is required.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Good understanding of Calibration ideally with significant practical experience.
- Knowledge of Uncertainty of Measurement and Decision Rules would be advantageous
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Critical and analytical thinking, combined with excellent attention to detail.
- A background in chemical, fire and / or physical testing.
- Degree educated or of degree calibre in one of the above or closely related subjects.
- Proactive and self-motivated.
- Planning and organisation skills with the ability to schedule and co-ordinate activities.
- Time management skills with ability to work under pressure to tight timescales and deadlines.
- Previous experience working with varied technical standards.
- Have experience of working in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory, preferably in technical role. Ability to practically apply these requirements to a laboratory setting.
- Ability to develop a knowledge of textiles testing and related activities.
- The successful candidate will need to be prepared to adopt a hands-on approach and ensure that work is progressed quickly whilst maintaining the highest levels of quality for a safety critical industry.
